Upasana was born on the 20th of September in 1998. She spent a little while of her childhood in the Darchula district of Nepal, her birthplace. Her father, Umesh Singh Thakuri is a retired Army officer and her mother is a housewife. She has two sisters namely, Jasmine Singh Thakuri and Aaradhya Singh Thakuri. As a child, Upasana was an excellent kid. She used to participate in dramas, dancing and Program hosting during her school and college days.
Upasana did her schooling until LKG in Darchula. Then she continued the rest of her education in Kathmandu. After completion of her school level, she is currently doing her bachelor’s degree in Ace Institute of Management, Kathmandu.

For the movie Captain, both producer Bhuwan K.C and director Diwakar Bhattrai were in search of two actresses for a while. Among the two, Upasana Singh was spotted through Instagram by Jiya KC. Then she was called for an audition. Upasana went with the audition mesmerizing the judges with her beautiful talent and acting skills. She eventually got the role of lead actress in the movie opposite to star Anmol KC.
Hence, “Captain” became her debut movie. She even earned a huge fan following after her first movie appearance. In the movie, she portrayed the role of a village girl and indeed gave her best to give justice to the character. On her first try, she received a lot of mixed responses. And she wished to give continuation to the journey.
