Nepal has qualified for the ICC U-19 T-20 Women’s World Cup to be held in Malaysia next year. Nepal qualified for the U-19 Women’s World Cup for the first time after defeating UAE by 8 wickets in the decisive match on Wednesday.
Nepal completed the target of 84 runs given by UAE with the loss of 2 wickets in 14 overs. For Nepal, opener Sana Praveen scored 35 runs while remaining unbeaten. Similarly, captain Pooja Mahato contributed 21 runs in 18 balls. Sabitri Dhami scored 12 runs.
After winning the toss, UAE batted first and scored 83 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Captain Samaira Dharnidharka scored the highest 31 runs for UAE. Similarly, Rinitha Ranjith scored 20 runs while opener Lavanya Kenny and Induja Nandakumar scored 10 runs each.
For Nepal, Krishma Gurung took 4 wickets by giving away 17 runs in 4 overs. She dismissed 3 players including captain Dharnidharka in one over. Rhea Sharma and Seema KC of Nepal took 2 wickets each while Rachna Kumari Chaudhary took 1 wicket.
The U19 T20 World Cup will be held in Malaysia from January 18 to February 2 next year. Nepal is in Group D along with Australia, Bangladesh and Scotland in the World Cup.
